The reason I am asking this is because I went into the petstore today and they told me they had a albino cornsnake and they sold it. The lady they sold it to said it laid an egg. The thing is this lady lets he snakes out on a regular babis for several days at a time. From what I am told she let the snake loose in the house because it stopped eating and had a attitude and was shedding basically showing signs of being gravid and she thought it needed exercise. This was 2 days ago she put the snake back in the cage today and it laid an egg. I need to know how many eggs they lay so I can tel her how many she needs to look for. Thats what they told we happened. I am assuming that the snake came from the breeder gravid the lady bought the snake around Christmas time. The pet store doesn't seem to know anything about this stuff I helped them the best I could and told them I would call them back with more info. Thanks in advance.

Make sure if you can, print out that website I sent ya..
They lay anywhere from (well of course 0) 2-12 eggs, 4-8 on average.
She needs to put a small rubbermaid in there with moss or vermiculite or some sort of
bedding the corn can burrow thru, she should lay the rest of her eggs in there.. if
the corn does not deposit any more eggs in the next 3 days, get her to the vet asap.

Thanks for the web site hisba. I told her the info over the phone and I also gave her the web site adress and told her to check it out if she had any questions. Of course I also recomended that she become a member of the wonderful REDTAILBOA.net I think I also convinced her not to feed live anymore. Makes me feel kinda good. She said that her snake had already been bit once. The snake was gravid when she got it from the pet store. She got a #$%^$%^$%^$%^& of a deal I think. She said while the snake was on it's 2 day exercise retreat it stayed under the frige a lot and kind sat there with only her rear end under the frige. I'm guessing she was laying under there. I'll keep you guys informed. Thanks again Hisba.

Now if only she would realize why letting her snakes roam free for several days at a time is severely poor judgement, she'll be okay.
As for being gravid, also consider the distinct possibility that the snake was never gravid at all, but was instead passing unferilized ova. This is a relatively common occurance as well.

Naja we talked about the roaming free stuff also I told her a couple of times that it is a bad idea . As for the unfertilized eggs I didn't even think about that. She is going to try to incubate the eggs but I'll tell her that so she doesn't get her hopes up. Thanks.
