Confusion
Hognose snake caresheets say that I should keep the warm side 77-85*F,but I don't know what to keep the cool side?Can they live at room temps that are around 78?

wow....if that's what ur room temp is then i don't know what you could really do....i mean, they need atleast somewhere to cool off....so maybe just put the water in the "cool" side....

i would try to keep the cool side on at least 5 to 8 degrees cooler than the warm side...the warm side should hover around 84-87 degrees and the cool side no colder than 78.

Ok,thats fine,I have a heat pad and thermometer,but if they didn't need it,I didn't see why I should use it.

No reptile can get by with any one set temperature. There are times they need to cool off and times they need to warm up. Thermoregulation is a much needed element in any reptile habitat. If your room temp is 78, there is a good chance that you cannot provide the proper gradient for this animal so you may need to change his location to a cooler room. Proper gradient should be mid 70s on the cool side to mid 80s on the warm side. You will know when your cage is properly set up when you all of a sudden never see the goofy little snake any more without a lot of digging / cage herping.
