Black Rat Snake Food???-

Could I feed my black rat snake an Anole. I see'm at the pet store only 50 cents more than the mice lol. Just to give him some variety.

While you could certainly try, I wouldnt recommend it.

One reason: if it eats an anole, it may not want to eat anything else

Another reason: anoles are typically wild captured and can transmit parasites to your snake

Yet Another reason: most rat snakes prefer warmblooded prey

And yet another reason: it really doesnt offer any benefit to the snake, just the benefit of seeing it eat something other than a mouse.

There is a reason why it is called a "ratsnake" and not an "anolesnake". Telefrag outlined some very good reasons why NOT to feed your ratsnake anoles...yet you blow it off because your whim is more important to you than your pet snake's health. Here is what stands out to me. You seem to be keeping this animal strictly for your own entertainment with total disregard for what's best for him. This is irresponsible and a huge part of the bad side of our hobby. If you won't care for it properly, please find it a new home.
