Mean Black Rat Snake!!!!

I have a friend that caught two black rat snakes last year when they were babies. He gave me one its about 2 foot long now. Now this thing is MEAN! If i even walk near the tank it strikes at the glass, and rattles it tail agaisnt the glass. When he had it he fed it every 2 to 3 weeks, and didnt have any kind of cage heating. I'll start feedin it every 5-7 days, and see if it calms down. Probably start handling it to calm it down or do you guys think its to late for it and its already set in its ways?

I doubt it will every completely tame down, but im sure it will at least stop striking at the cage after some time.


Its just going to take work, I wouldnt give up.

Black ratsnakes are all over the place here. I have dealt with thousands of them. #1 rule NEVER pin them behind the head when you pick them up. They hate that. It's still small and can't draw any blood yet...or not much anyway...just reach in and pick it up and ignore the strikes. Most of that is bluff anyway. I went on a "copperhead call" last night and ended up with a baby black rat lol. Cute little things. As common as they are around here, I still love messing with them.

I definantly like the way they look totally black with a nice white belly looks awsome.
