I wish I could still find Eastern Milks. I used to find them all the time when I was a kid. For the past 10-12 years or so, the only ones I have seen have been a couple of dead ones up near my parents house in Blueridge Ga (N. Ga Mtns) where the neighbors killed them and wanted me to come see the copperhead they killed...grrrr

at least you have found them at one point.
my area is tragically deficient in milks.
Prairie /speck kings are pretty common.
But amaura, annulata, caelanops, gentilis (no matter where in tx I go) seem to elude me completely.
guess I dont operate on the same cosmic frequency as they do.
oh well.

LOL...Jules, I get that all the time. I can't tell you how many times I have gone to someone's house to retrieve a copperhead that turns out to be a harmless ratnsnke or milksnake. Heck, so far I have picked up a rat, corns, a king, a milk and even a hognose on one occasion, but have yet to fish out an all too dreaded copperhead.
People crack me up.

This year was weird. EVERY copperhead call I went on was indeed a copperhead. I picked up 4 total and never could find one but verified it was a northern copper by a digital photo the lady took before it slithered off. I still have 2 of those I picked up up for adoption...want em?

I would love them man...but I have an elderly person in my home, so I won't keep anything venomous.
I know I'll probably catch some flack for this, but I catch and release every snake that I get called to pick up. I don't tell the people I pick them up from, but I usually just go to a nearby wooded area and release them. They feel better that I picked up the evil snake and took it away, and I feel better that they didn't kill it. If it shows back up, they just call me again. I lead people to believe that I dump them on a farm where I hunt. I don't tell them that flat out, but I say enough that I leave them with that impression. I guess it's the lesser of two evils. I hate to lie, but it's better for the snakes if I am not totally honest.
