*POOF* Like a ninja, I appear!
Howdy everyone! I know its been awhile since I've been around so I thought I'd chime in tonight and let you all know how things are going! First off, I'm no longer in Balad at LSA Anaconda. I'm in Mosul now at LSA Diamondback. Better living conditions here too. Its just two squads out of the company here. We work across the street doing "services" to vehicles. Basically just Jiffy Lube stuff... fluid changes, filter changes, new gaskets, that crap. Its fun work though I like it. Time here is going pretty quickly. I still can't wait to get back home. The other big news is that I'm engaged. You can see a picture of her and my son together at www.angelfire.com/wa/NoMaDiCaL/myppl.html (sorry, I can't link it or upload it). Her name is Janelle. We've been on and off for th elast few years but we are definitely on now. Overall things aren't that bad. I'll be 23 in June, my son will be 3 in August. I should be home for 2 weeks in about 2 months. I can't complain to much. Also, you can see a picture of me and my brother together at Anaconda here: www.angelfire.com/wa/NoMaDiCaL/meandbro.html Kinda crazy that we saw each otehr for the first time in years in Iraq. He's home safe now after earning a Bronze Star with Valor Device. So, thats my story at the moment. I hope everyone else is being safe and dodging the appropriate urban mortars while I dodge the actual ones!
Talk to you all soon!

Its always good to run across people from home and even family while overseas
I ran across my bro and many I knew from the USS Jason, while in Diega Garcia on my way to the Gulf back in the late 80s.
Just remember the famous words 'If anything happens, run Dustin, run'

Hey Dustin,
Enjoy your stay at Diamondback where they offer a no charge mortar round wake up call at 6 am every morning.
I was up there a month or so ago and got woken up every morning by the mortar rounds the locals were dropping inside the wire at 6am. Other than that, it is a nice place. A little advice, if you smoke, don't buy the smokes at that little store up at the MWR, they are stale. Have to be a year or more old.
When I was up there, we were moving out the 101st Airborne as their rotation was over and they were bugging out. Did you ceom in through the back way over the mountain or through the city itself?
Good Luck and enjoy your stay.
Jim
