Ok I have been gone a little while because I have been extremely busy....but here are some updates:

*Wrasse and JS thank you both for the tips to help find my daughter's baby corn...I found her last night in the basement...we are currently cleaning it out so it worked out....and wrasse you were right it happened by accident!

*My Cyclura is finally coming this wed! I am so psyched!

*I change my appearance alot (I have no idea how some people have the same look for years--has to be boring to look at and maintain)--I am VERY blonde now . I will post photos when I get some shots of the new BCR Iguana

*I am buying a UVB measuring meter for my bulbs. I have joined a WONDERFUL group that discusses different bulbs and what they accomplish. I am very suprised by what I have learned already. Amazing amount of info--and what's refreshing is, I haven't heard any of it before--and it's all backed by evidence. I can't tell you how many times people post things as fact because they heard it from someone on the internet...and before you know it it's law everywhere. I am about to change 90% of my lighting. After I get the meter I will alos measure distance, time (one week after a bulb is turned on the power is dramatically low--including MV bulbs)
In any case what a find!!!

Hi Nicole,

No, the 60 watt Westron lights don't produce as much heat ( you have to burn
another light or H.E. the wattage depends on the size of the cage ). The usable
UVB output of the 100 - 160 watt Zoomed *flood lights* Is practically
nonexistent at anything over 12-15 in. You want to go with a MV *spot light* if
you want enough punch to get the uvb very far. The Westron lights out perform
the zoomed lights but if you have a large enclosure I reccomend the T-Rex 100 -
160 watt *spot lights*. The Westron light that I've seen advertised on the "my
iguana" website ( if it's the one I think it is ) is meant to be used in smaller
cages at closer distances than the higher wattage lights can safely be placed.
I have my T-Rex 160 Watt *spot* on my big male beardie at 24 in. I still get
really good #s at that distance. Depending on how well insulated your cage is,
you'll want to use a halogen spot for extra heat. MV lamps in general don't
produce as much heat as halogen lights. You should replace mv lamps when thier
output drops to below 30uw/cm2. You might want to double check those #s though
( I have to refresh my memory myself ). Alot of these lights will continue
burning for along time after the uv output is gone.

No she didn't find out until we found her. I was on the verge of getting her a new snake.
Someone who hates snakes happened to be down there (a very big guy) --almost jumped on the dryer
I explain to him it's only Olivia's little corn......
THEN he says...."ok I'll stpe on it's tail---YOU go get a towel"
I'm like...JUST stay over there! I pick her up and bring her upstairs....
I mean even if it was a cobra --"I'll step ot it's tail"?????

I fed her right away...the day she got out was feeding day for her and she always eats.

I am surprised she made it all the way down to the basement though.
