Hello all,
Just thought we'd take a sec to introduce ourselves - we're a married couple from Sanford, North Carolina... currently have eight snakes, 1 fish {Black Arowana}, and 1 bird {double yellow headed amazon} not to mention a number of rodent breeders... {G}
We were wondering if there were any other herpers near the Sanford area on this board? We were thinking of getting a Lee county herp society going or some such thing... for networking etc. We've heard there were quite a few people in the area that keep reptiles, but we've only met 1-2.
We also build custom snake enclosures to your specs...
Anyhoo... love the site - it's freakin' huge!
Best Regards,
Jon & Tay

Yeah Eric, it's about a 1 1/2 to two hour drive. We make that kind of trip every few weeks though as it stands to a breeder friend of ours in Mount Olive. You might know of him??? Rick Sladick of Forked Tongue Enterprises, website is Snakes Plus??? Great guy, clean, excellent stock, cool fella, takes all the time in the world for you and if you buy directly from him while visiting, you save quite a lot of money too. He also sells Rats and Mice, excellent prices there again!

LOL Eddie, yes I saw that, waiting for Jon to get home to see it too before we answer. You're another one that's about a 2 hour drive, but we'd sure love to come visit the rescue one saturday or sunday.
And thank you Lori, you've been fantastic help and I can't wait to meet these other folk from NC, I can't tell you how much I appreciate you going the extra mile to get us subbed when we were having problems with the forms, I really needed to post that Burmese for Jenny, I had promised her that I'd get it up ASAP but couldn't seem to hold to the promise! I was frustrated beyond belief that day, I had been going the rounds with cable installers that day over my folk's cable who live right in front of us not 300 ft, and couldn't seem to get their cable installed, even though we had it and were in the yard with them!!! All kinds of excuses were coming out of installers mouths for why they couldn't hook em up, that is until I called mom and told her to demand and engineer come out and look at it from the line company! That got them here to install it, but they still haven't been assigned a dang email address and that was three days ago! ARGGGGH. Monday they're getting an ear full, if I recommend someone highly I expect them to live up to it! I hate incompetence in service people, after all they're called service people for a 'reason' and last time I looked, the contracts don't guarantee 'bad' service and 'dropped' calls! LOL
Oy!
Again Thanks for your patience and help, we love the site!
Tay

Mike, You are VERY close by! That's good news. Email us privately this weekend at tribalgael@charter.net and we'll all make plans to meet one of these days soon whether you're interested in a cage or not. It's just good to meet folks who can come in your house, respect the fact that you have snakes and not make smart a**ed comments about 'why' you keep snakes, and make rude comments such as, "what can snakes do for you?"!!! I just can't believe how freakin' rude people are, so I've started being rude right back with retorts like, "well the snakes do more for me than you do, that's for freakin sure!" and, "If you don't like my snakes, you don't have to be here." But still, I'd never go in someone's home and criticize their pets! That's like insulting a family member to me, because they are family! So as you can see, we'd be glad to meet another herper in the area and it's nice to know you're close.
BTW, may I ask where you purchased your Ball Python? Just curious, there's a guy in Mount Olive that sells them all day wormed and healthy, feeding and ready to go for $30.00 a piece at about 10 to 12 weeks old and he sexes on the spot for you. His place is awesome too, I mentioned it in a previous reply and listed his URL. I may know a place not too far from here where you can pick up a BCI for cheap, cheap, cheap and the guy told me that the fellow is clean and really knows his stuff, so I'm going to likely be checking him out. The place if I recall, is called Paradise Pets and though it may be a pet store, the owner is a reptile breeder as well, so I would feel better about doing business with someone with that experience. I'm going to reserve judgment until I've visite his facilities but it's a thought. I believe he may be down by Lexington where Eric is from. But I can't remember at present, I've got the card somewhere!!! LOL
Good to meet ya Mike

I'm in downtown Raleigh. Just moved out here a little over a month ago. I'm not too sure where Sanford is, but it sounds familiar.

Sophia and Bry,
Actually Paradise Pets is off of 540 on leesville road in Raleigh. He is a super nice guy,and will help anyone out. I met in at the reptile show in Raleigh, and went to his store(which is very clean). His prices aren't too bad. Let me tell you that i came across an add in the paper for baby colombians and called it. The guy has 23 babies,he lives by Chapel Hill, and he's only asking $45 for them. They are CB from his female. He is gone all this next week,so i am going to look at them i on the 6th. If i like what i see,i will be bringing one home. If either of you are in need of another i do have his number, let me know and i will pass it on.
Also I have to work all weekend, but we will work something out to meet up in the near future.
Later all ave a great day,
Mike
