Connie, Welcome to the forums. I hope you really enjoy your new pet. How old is your grand-daughter? I have a 7 1/2 year old, 6 year old daughters and a 3 1/2 year old son. They love our snakes as much a our furry pets.
I know so little about rosy's so I hope somebody can answer your questions and point you to some good care sheets. Give him time to adjust and always remember to share pictures with us once he's comfy.

My grand daughter Chloe will be 2 years old next month. She will have to wait a little while before handling Balboa. I work for people who breed cats...Savannahs, bengals and egyptian maus. I do have 4 cats, and 2 dogs...a dachshund oliver who is 5 and a 2 year old golden retriever. I show my Golden in obedience and love it. They are wonderful dogs!!!!! Thanks for the reply...connie

You'll have a great time. With the animals here my kids were just born learning the rules. Since babies we tried to instill respect in them for the animals. As soon as my son was 2 1/2 we decided to go ahead and get another snake for a pet. I've waited patiently (almost 8 years). My children handle them great. Even the youngest. They know they are wild pets and we have to respect them as such. The rules are to NEVER open the cage (even though they are locked) and move slow and be gentle, never put your hands and fingers around the snake, but let the snake sit on your hands. And always wash your hands before and after handling. They are amazingly gentle and calm when they have to be.
Here is a picture of my 2 boys, human (3 1/2 years) and my baby hog x (3 1/2 mos)

BTW-I love the name Chloe. I was going to name my oldest daughter Chloe but when I was two months pregnant I got my doberman and without thinking named her Cleopatra (Cleo for short). That would have become very confusing. LOL.
Happy birthdya to Chloe next month. Is this an early birthday present or strictly for gramma?

OK, no fair, getting very jealious now!!!! Post starts about rosy boas (which are awesome) then mentions some amazing kitties: savannah, bengal and egyptian maus and then someone throws in a mention of the number one dog in the world, a doberman. I am going to go sulk in my rosy boa-less bedroom with my domestic shorthair cat and dream of a fenced in backyard for my future dobie!!!! Thanks a lot!

No really, hi Connie and congrats on the boa, I am sure you will love him. Rosy boas are awesome, easy to maintain and usually very handleable. Be careful though, snakes are addictive!
