Hello snakefans!

Umm yeah, I'm just posting here to say hi because the forum description told me I could [img]modules/Forum/images/smiles/icon_wink.gif[/img] I'm a college student in Maryland, I just got a redtail boa (just over 1 foot long, probably around 5 months, I guess) and my housemate got a 3 foot ball python - but SHE has a book on them, so she doesn't need to come here for help as much as me!

Actually.. We can pretty much guarantee that if you look at the copyright date on the book.. It is most likely outdated and not from this year even.. hehe YES she can come here to RTB as well. heehee I was kidding about my housemate - she'll be home tonight after she takes her python to visit her sister (why she doesn't just bring the sister here, I have no clue.) Although considering her track record for fish... yeah, I'm probably going to be taking care of Monty and Gabriel both [img]modules/Forum/images/smiles/icon_wink.gif[/img]

At least we're assuming she's a she... when we need to take the snakes to a vet, we'll ask their sexes, but right now, since they just had a checkup before we got them, we'll just guess [img]modules/Forum/images/smiles/icon_wink.gif[/img]

LMAO..

Make sure the vet knows how to sex the snakes also. Most snakes I have come across that have been sexed by a vet are usually the opposite of what the vet says. lol I would find someone local , like a reptile store or such that could sex em. Plus the vet usually charges for that and most people that are in the reptile world would do it for nothing for ya anyway...

My roommate got home, and she says that her neighbors used to have three huge boas - so they know the best vet to go to, and might even have left over snake goodies for ours [img]modules/Forum/images/smiles/icon_smile.gif[/img]

your snake is just over a foot long? that sounds like a problem. i have 2 foot bci that are 5 months old . how often are you feeding him? and what are you feeding him? live mice? dead rats?

welcome aboard! this is the place for great advice...Don't let the title fool ya i am no expert would rather see "boa Fan" but i will give this much advice if you got your snake from a pet store 90% of what they told you disregard they have no clue ask your question here and have patience and you will get the best possible answer. (just don't double post hand tight they will answer lol) lori kinda frowns on that! Billy.. She said that she THINKS it is prolly 5 months old. I would say most likely not though if only a lil over a foot in length myself.
