a whole lot of mush
Well, I have to say that you guys are way too good at this whole community thing! I'm telling you, I have so enjoyed lurking around reading so many of your posts... getting to know you (which is different than stalking... I"m sure... at least I hope)... and gleaning so much from your knowledge of reptiles for the past few months. I haven't ment to stay in the shadows for so long... but every time I come to the site with a question about either of my two babies, I find the answer already posted and explained so beautifuly that even someone as new to this as I am can go "Ohhh! I get it now!". But then I don't have a "reason" to write... so I decided to just introduce myself and create my own "reason".
We have two snakes in our family...you know...When I was researching snakes before we purchased...I used to giggle when I would read the long lists of reptiles you all have. You never see a family with 4 or 6 big dogs.. but it seems that reptiles are addicting... 4 is just getting started ). But it wasn't long after we got Clover that I, too, was scheeming how I could get another cage so we could add boa...
Clover (BP) we've had since early March and Not Wilson (Columbian BC) only for 6 weeks. Since our snakes are still babies, I feel like I haven't even earned the right to say that we have snakes... right now they are still so cute and tiny... I"m sure it is a different experience as they grow... but they have slipped (or should I say "slithered"?) into our famiy so comfortably and wonderfully... I am looking foward to the next.. well, I guess lifetime of herping. But like I"ve said, I have learned so much in the past few months from you guys ... more so than I did from every book in the library that I cover-to-covered about both species. Clover and Not Wilson thank you very much, I'm sure! And so do I.
I hope I'm out and about more and more on the site...although since I'm gathering my knowledge from you ... I'm not sure what more I can contribute than encouragement and "oohs and aahh's" over your stories and pictures. Thanks for being here. It feels like home.
Tracy

well... thank you so very much. I do feel welcome...
The first answer, Nicole, is that my avatar pic is my youngest daughter... holding Clover (wait.. was it the girl or the snake you were curious about?? ) She is so great with the snakes. We took them to 3rd grade the other day for my other daughter's class and my 4 year old ended up leading the Q&A time... and had the answers nailed! I wasn't surprised because she is so in tuned with the snakes... but it did surprise me a little because we take care of them togehter, bu tI haven't sat down and "taught" her the specifics.
Yes, I do have pictures of my critters and I'll get them sized down so I can post them... I need to just roll up my sleeves and make a web site... for so many reasons.
Thanks again for the welcome.

yeah, only she can't quite read yet... so the writing/typing thing is rather tricky for her. I guess we'll have to wait a few years for all her wisdom ! lol
