Never heard of this before!!
Ok I've never seen Oscar do this before but he's my first cham so maybe I'm just showing off my inexperience here.
Has anyone else's cham feigned sleep before? I swear to god, he's faking it. I was doing my nightly rounds before I get ready for bed and as I was scanning his cage for leftover crickets, I could see his eyes moving around in my peripheral vision. Then when I go to look at him directly, both of his eyes are tightly shut. Has anyone else's pretended to be sleeping before? Or is this another one of Oscar's quirks?

Re: Never heard of this before!!
Hmmm....how many times did you look away and then back at him? It would truly be funny if he was really faking it.

Re: Never heard of this before!!
Every time I look at him now, his eyes are closed. But I had just walked into the room before he did it the first time.

Re: Never heard of this before!!
You ought to get a video camera on the two of you. You keep looking away and looking back at him and see what is caught on film.

Re: Never heard of this before!!
focus a camera on him, turn your head, and then take a picture
see if you can outsmart his sneakyness

Re: Never heard of this before!!
Chances are it's a fear response. Different Chams have different responses to potential predators, but sitting still and relying on their camoflage is one of them.

Re: Never heard of this before!!
A video or pic of it would still be entertaining! Animals just crack me up sometimes.

Re: Never heard of this before!!
yea i have on too he is a 2y/o weiled. names dougie. i know what you mean usually his eyes will be closed but you can still see him moving his eyes. as it would be if you closed your eyes and then sarted moving them all around. mine is a pretty hardy sleeper i can blow on him or reach in his cage and sometimes even pet him and he wont wake up. good thing i am not a snake or he would be toast in the wild i would imagine. but yeah you are probably just seeing his eyes move under his eyelids and the actually "eyehole" moves a whole lot as if he is trying to squint and peek
thay are very odd creatures and have weird and oddball personalitys i could watch mine all day
