seriously what the heck is going on. his whole life he lived with a female. the did great together. i always had plans of seperating them. and then on the day i decided to my male disappeared!now i hadnt be home in a few days so i will admit when i was home they didnt get taken care of like normal. they just got some crickets thrown in and the normal misting. when i found him his tail had lost substantial weight and to be truthful he look like he had been taken from petsmart!my female on the othe hand was on her normal vine under the light looking her normal emaculate self. full tail and body eyes were perfect everthing. so of course about an hpour later they were apart. ever since them hes been burrowing on and off. hes in a 20 gallon tall with a screen lid, he has two trees with small benda vine that wraps the tank. the he has leaf garland from a craft store hanging from the screen top. he has a 75 watt heat light and a uv light. nothing has changed except the seasons. the night temp may have dropped but thats it.any one have any clues?

Are you absolutely positive it's a male? It sounds like typical female egg laying behavior. I really think s/he needs to be seen by a vet, and as soon as possible. Any abnormal weight loss should be considered a possible sign of illness, because chameleons are so slow to show symptoms and can go downhill in a matter of hours. If you can't get him into a vet tonight, do it first thing in the morning.
