Glass tanks don't provide enough ventilation for chameleons. Go with a screen cage. Keep in mind that chameleons are very delicate, and need a cage in a quiet place with not a lot of traffic. They can be a lot of work, so be prepared.

how do you maintain humidity in a screen cage though? I've never understood how people manage to keep cham's in those kind of setups.

By misting often, and if needed, running an ultrasonic humidifier during the day.

You can, but make sure s/he can find food. Sometimes babies have a hard time hunting down their food in a cage that big. Sometimes using a feeding cup works well for little ones.

I like to use a plastic deli cup with a hole in the lid just big enough for the chameleon to get to the insects. Don't use a clear one, though, it confuses the cham. Mine quickly learned where to look for food.

if you're using a reptiquarium DO NOT leave crickets in there... they will chew through the mesh and get out(had it happen at my shop and trust me packing tape is not pleasing to the eye lol)

If you use the deli cup method, you can leave the crickets in the cup for a while. Some babies are shy and will not eat when you are around. If you can find very small mealworms, you can use those, too, or small silkworms. Fruit flies work well for tiny babies, too.

There are lots of fruit fly suppliers online, and you can get flightless varieties. Try www.blackjungle.com or www.wormman.com. I always put the hole in my deli cups in the lid, and just big enough that the chameleon can find its food- for a baby, probably no more than 2" in diameter. Use a shallow cup so he can reach the food.
