Interview:Dr. Seward: rough draft
Ok boys and girls Dr. Seward has agreed to do a interview with us. His website address is http://www.drseward.com/
In case you didn't know Dr. Seward is known for his knowledge in Gila Monsters. Dr. Seward studies these reptiles in the wild, has a breeding program and has even written a few books on the subject.
I want to get this interview up soon so what I need from everyone here is the following:
Please Post any questions you have to Dr. Seward. No Flaming please.
Check out his site first, then post your questions here. Once we get enough questions here I will then send that information to Dr. Seward, wait for his answers and post the interview on our website.

What kind of person does Dr. Seward suggest own a Gila monster? Does he feel it's OK for just a hobbyist, or only hard core herpers?
How does he feel about vemomous legislation?
Although there are no confirmed cases of a Gila killing anyone with a bite, does he feel it is possible for a bite to kill a normal, healthy adult?
I've read that Gila venom is closely akin to cobra venom. Does he feel this is correct?
I have a million others...heloderma are VERY cool animals...but I'll quit there.

Let's see................
What treatment is given for Heloderma envenomations?
Is there a difference in the venom toxity or composition between different sp and ssp?
What are the symptoms of an envenomation?

Has ther been any medically significant uses for the venom discovered (or protiens thereof)?
What is the best time of day to observe them inthe wild?

Explain for the layman exactly how Gila envenomation works. I know they don't have fangs like a Cobra per se. Is it more like a rear fanged snake? Or something altogether different?
What's the largest size they reach, and the biggest he's seen?
Has he ever gotten nipped?
Do lizard bites qualify for the Bleeder's Club?

what factors do you think influenced the gila into evolving into being one of 2 venomous lizards?
how do you think the gila has evolved over the last few millenia?
