heating ???

I just got my temp gun and am realizing that my cage has been too hot.
I keep reading that the cage should be an 82 ambiant meaning away from heat source. and 88-90 on the hot side. The coldest part of the cage is 78. If I have the hot side at 88. Then the cold side is a little lower than sugested? Do you think it is ok? I know you aren't supposed to have heat sources on more than one side. I could increase the hot side to hotter and then it might make the cold side 80-82.

Is 78 warm enough on the cold side. The snake can make up her mind. She rarely is on the cold side anyway.

thanks,
James

actually just checked again the basking spot is 95-98 and around that is lower she never is right under the basking spot because there is a hide that makes it cooler. Cold side is 80.4 79.9 etc. Right now she is under the linolium ( she knows its been too hot). Going to replace linolium with shower liner and glue it down with silicone.
