Ok guys, this is a good example of what creative ideas can bring. The ideas can go on and on, and the more you plan the better things will come out. Here is the viv I started today, it took about 2 hours to get where the picture shows. I added a coat on the outside and will add another coat tomorrow as well as gloss the inside with several coats. Hope you like what I came out with. Comments please.

P.S. Reason I didn't post the picture is because it is pretty big and I don't want to take up bandwidth and I don't have my photo tools yet since I just reformatted.

Errr...one last thing. You will probably have to copy and paste the link into a new window. But it's all worth the time.

Hi, thats a sweet enclosure. Are the curved pieces in there a strengthening gusset type of thing?

I've been reading alot of the threads on wooden cages and see that people are sealing them with an airdry type of polyurethane that takes a long time to dry before they can use them.
I'm in the middle of building some enclosures for my burms right now. I plan on using a product made by dupont that is called hyperclear. It is a urethane clear that is catalyzed with a hardener, so it dries to handling within two hours, and because it dries chemically, will have no fumes after 24 hours! I will be spraying the parts, as I have access to a booth, but I don't see why you couldn't brush it on. It can be found at auto parts stores that carry Dupont autopainting products. There are other urethane clears that dry on the average of 4 to 6 hours and no fumes after 24 hours. I'll let ya know how it goes. (sorry for the long post.) Thanks for the good comments. As for the curved pieces, yes, the main focus of them are for strengthening the enclosure and making it solid. I am going to fill the cracks and corners with Silicone ( aquarium type ) and the inside will be glossed with MinWax Polyacrylic Gloss. The outside is going to be stained with MinWax then coated with gloss. The front will have sliding glass doors and still a bunch of features to add inside. That is a fluroscent light, CHE ( screened off) and on a thermostat. The results should come out great and I still have ideas running around in my mind.

For the same price as a che, ceramic light fixture, and the wire you can get a heat pannel that will work much better. ProProducts makes them stating at $60, just a thought. Cage looks great, its a very nice design.

Speedcore: The CHE wasn't the only thing I had in mind, I was also thinking about a heat panel as well. As of yet, I haven't ordered anything and I am still planning on what I should get.
imperm: Thanks for the link, I'll be sure to check it out.
Within a week or two, the enclosure should be completely done and setup. I'll add the pics as soon as this is done.
