I posted this earlier, and when I came back to check for responses it wasn't here...so I'll try again. I was wondering if anyone here is familiar with VISION cages. I plan on buying one soon, 72"x36"x18" for my 3' BCI. I was wondering the best way to heat such a large enclosure. Thanks in advance.

I sold all of my Visions for better enclosures. But when I had them, I heated with bulbs through the vents.

What type of cages did you replace them with? What does everybody consider the best line of cages? Thanks

Hey, i went through all this questioning about 7 months ago and was told to go with Boaphile cages, and was not led astray, i LOVE my boaphile cage, they even have an option of adding heat to the cage, and it is enough to provide the necessary heat for my redtail boa. check em out, you wont be disappointed, and im sure others will tell you the same shortly... Boaphile Plastics
Oh and just for reference i went with a 421d model.

Well I will second SoPure's vote for the boaphile cages. They are afforable and easy to maintain. No bulbs to replace or screens to worry about replacing. TOP NOTCH!
I bought ten not to long ago and posted pics here. You can also go to my photo album and check out what I have there here.
Vision cages also have glass doors on them and those can, and will, break. I personally think the best thing about Visions is the way they look. To me, Boaphile plastics look better and function much better.

He switched to Precision Cages, and I have one, and one Boaphile cage. I have to say both cages are great, and I like them better than the Visions I used to have. They both work great, and I personally think they're more appealing than the gray granite color of the Visions. Personally, I think Precision is better in terms of price, the only downside is that they charge shipping, while Boaphile doesn't. But, even w/ the cost of shipping included, it's not much cheaper than a similar-sized Boaphile cage. I like how the black Boaphiles provide the snake with extra security (you can get them in white), but I like the visibility the white cages provide.

Yes, I am using Precisions now. I never like the hinges on Boaphiles. I try to stay away from metal hardware.

Yeah, so far, I'm liking how the hinge works out. I had my doubts when I saw the plastic hinges, and when I found out I had to glue them on. I thought to myself, "You mean I have to glue them on??" I was afraid I'd screw it up. But, it turned out pretty good. The glue makes Super Glue look like Elmer's Glue.
Bry - has sniffed too much glue

Thanks a lot guys. Can you all tell me what features make the Precision cages better than the Vision cages? Thanks again.

Actually, I prefer Neodesha's to just about anything.
While Vision's look nice, here's why I don't like them:
1) If you stack them, the plastic tends to bow somewhat, and the doors often bind. This is more of a problem with their larger models.
2) They are anything but escape-proof. The gap between the sliding doors is large enough for small snakes to squeeze through.
3) They have a bit of a ledge above the door, where snakes can easily hide. This is a minor inconvenience when dealing with boids, but since I also work with hots, I consider it to be downright dangerous. Then again, it could also lead to problems with aggressive boids.
4) The light shroud generally can't handle anything over a 60w fixture
5) If you have multiple units, they have to be unstacked just to change a light bulb.

Thanks, and one more question. I have decided to go with the Precision cage. I was wondering how one would go about providing belly heat? Thanks.

UTH I would imagine. Remember that the Precisions are made of Thermal Plastic so they retain heat very well.

Boaphile cages will install the "belly heat" for you when you order so you dont have to worry about it!!! Just throwing that in again for boaphile sake, i am 110% satisfied with mine!
