Changes, Rearranges, Upgrades, and Additions
My boyfriend installed a 4-ft fluorescent light fixture on the inside of the burm cage the other day. Burmie kept trying to help so we had to shut the doors...

These are the cages I ordered from Repti-Racks.com. I will have to say, I do not recommend them. They took about three months to receive, and one came in broken which I am still waiting on the replacement for. And I'm not sure if it's just a Florida thing, but I have to leave the doors open on a regular basis because the windows fog up. So whenever that third one comes in there will another one on top with the yellow anaconda in it.

And here is Burmie saying hello to his neighbors

Re: Changes, Rearranges, Upgrades, and Additions
Your set-up looks beautiful. Oh, and I almost said "wakey wakey" to your boyfriend (which would have been a good thing because I don't think he wants to fall asleep in there )
Sorry, I missed your comment on Repti-racks. I thought those looked familiar.

Re: Changes, Rearranges, Upgrades, and Additions
looks good, the burm is funny haha. and I haven't had any problems with my repti-racks... they are great... maybe it was just an unlucky ship on that one... I haven't had any fogging issues either. also I know he told me when I ordered mine that he was about 5 weeks out on orders. reason being is he has a home based business. he doesn't have lots of workers like say AP does, lol. i picked mine up at his house lol

Re: Changes, Rearranges, Upgrades, and Additions
Wow, that sucks about your cages. It's the first bad review I've heard of them. They are supposed to be virtually break-proof. With all the business we've been sending him from RTB alone, I wondered how long it would take before his orders started lagging. My order arrived in a month.
I deliberately mist my cages to make them fog up because it's so dry here and they hold humidity so well. Sounds like maybe they hold it TOO well for the Florida climate.

Re: Changes, Rearranges, Upgrades, and Additions
I think the fogging issue is a Florida thing. It happened to my Boaphile cage as well. I fixed it by drilling evenly spaced 1/4" holes in the backtop of the cage.
That's a good looking boa in the top Repti-rack cage. Is that one Bryan had for sale at the store a while ago? She looks really good, I almost got her.

That's what the bf suggested, I think I will end up doing that. Stupid Florida lol

Nope I've had her from a hatchling about 10 years or so, but I know what snake you're talking about, I thought the same. She's a Hog cross and I think that snake was as well.

I think I ordered mine the last week of Dec., was told I'd get them late Jan. and that I'd be notified when they were shipped. I was not notified and they eventually showed up in the last week of Feb. One was broken where it appeared that the door had been shut with one of the locks on the inside, causing extra pressure I'm assuming. I've been contacted by UPS and sent it back about 3 weeks ago, still waiting to get the new one. And they are the 4 x 2s

Actually, it sort of is my bed the snake was a rescue and I'd wanted a burm for a while but didn't have the space. So I figured if I replaced my queen size bed (5' x 6'6") with a cage he'd have enough room to live out his days and I wouldn't lose any space--and forever have a "monster" under my bed
And as far as his story goes, he was found roaming in Tampa, FL, cared for for about 3 years by a guy here in town, but when the new law passed he didn't want to pay to keep him and gave him to the shop I worked for at the time. Never showed any signs of aggression and always been in perfect health. And he's only about 11 feet and doesn't seem to be getting any bigger, which is kind of nice

That's something you actually have to watch out for with those little latches. The screws need to be tightened periodically or you will accidentally try to latch the door shut over one that is hanging down. I'm just curious if it was the plexiglass window that broke or the actual plastic cage? The plastic is supposed to be pretty unbreakable.
Now that they're getting more business (probably as a result of RTB), the delivery times are longer it sounds like. I was lucky to buy mine when no one knew who they were. They only had 2 orders ahead of mine. I still think the advantages of the type of plastic they use far outweigh PVC.

Re: Changes, Rearranges, Upgrades, and Additions
Yup it was the plastic. It was about a 1" x 2" chunk underneath where the latch was. Crappy thing is, none of my snakes are small enough to fit through and it probably would have helped with the ventilation issues...oh well, I thought about just keeping it, knowing it would take forever to get a new one but the edges were kind of sharp.

Re: Changes, Rearranges, Upgrades, and Additions
That's really disappointing to hear. I think you would probably never be happy with the flawed cage, unless you got a deep discount for it. If it's any consolation, I've heard Boaphile cages occasionally arrive broken too. And also, AP told me themselves that 1 out of ever 12 glass doors they ship arrives broken.

Re: Changes, Rearranges, Upgrades, and Additions
Yeah, well I've pretty much decided that me and ordering things online don't mix...if it can go wrong, for me, it will. This sort of thing always happens to me with ordering online.

Re: Changes, Rearranges, Upgrades, and Additions
I've had a lot of issues as well, but it's usually with UPS and FedEx and not so much with the product.
I still think you will be happy with your enclosures, and you can have the peace of mind that they are not made out of PVC, if that means anything to you.

Re: Changes, Rearranges, Upgrades, and Additions
Yup yup. I will have to say my main reason for going with them was the price--they were a BIG difference pricewise from everyone else, but the PVC thing definitely was a part of it.

Re: Changes, Rearranges, Upgrades, and Additions
Did you go with the radiant heat panels?
One way you can cut down the humidity is to use CareFresh substrate--you know that recycled cardboard stuff. That stuff tends to dry out more easily than other stuff, and you may find you have less fogging. Just a thought.
