Exo Terra Cave Review

ReptileSupply has amazing prices on these things so I picked up a few of each to give them a try.

Small: I didn't care for the design with the huge opening on the front so I didn't bother spending money on it.

Medium: Great for snakes feeding hoppers, mice and rat pops.

Large: Only a 1/2" smaller than the x-large but only 2" tall, which leaves a fairly small opening as well. Great for any snake feeding on small rats or an adult king, milk which are more slender built.

X-Large: The largest of the caves with inner dimensions of 10" x 9" x 4". Great for any snake feeding on medium and maybe large rats. I'd imagine a boa 6'-7' would out grow it (although I don't have a boa that large yet so it's an educated guess).

Overall Design: Looks very natural. Completely smooth inside and out, easy to clean. The inside stays completely dark even during the day. Has some good weight to it and neither of my snakes have managed to move it yet, although i'm sure they could if they really wanted to.

For the price, it's hard to turn down if your looking for a natural look in your enclosure.

We have the XL size in our Ackie Monitor's cage. It's funny because she likes to move it around even though it's pretty heavy for cage furniture.

It is a nice piece.

Re: Exo Terra Cave Review

My BCC has had an XL for a year and a half. He has outgrown it, but he still loves it. I put a half log in front of it like a little igloo and prop the edge of the cave on a rock so he can still fit in it. I wish they made a bigger one. He is 5-1/2 feet, BTW.

Oh, and it wasn't cheap. It was about $32.

Re: Exo Terra Cave Review

Yeah Star, ours was about $21 on SALE. Not cheap, but it's a very nice furniture piece.

And Scotty, if you know what an Ackie is it's even funnier. She's barely two feet from head to tail and probably doesn't even weigh half a pound. lol
