Re: tub question??
In my experience, even if the mat gets to 100 degrees it doesn't effect my sterilite tubs. If you use a cheap tub with really thin plastic then it may warp or melt.
Sounds like you're using a sterilite. And a thermostat. You should be fine. I usually keep my mats at about 85-90 depending on the tub and heat distribution.
OH and one more thing..make sure your heat mat is on a hard, flat surface and that there is some room for it to 'breathe'. Just a little space between the tub and the mat.

Re: tub question??
i use flexxwatt heat tape for my tubs. when i measure the temp directly on the heat tape it reads 106-112 degrees. the probes, which are inside the tubs, under the substrate are set on a tstat at 94 degrees. when i measure the temp on the warm side, on top of the substrate, i get a 85-90 degree reading.
by substrate i mean these towels i use lol i get them at walmart and they work for me.
the temperatue i measure with a temp gun.
reason i dont measure directly on the heat tape with the probe is the max the probe will hold is 94 degrees and if i do 94 degrees outside the tub the inside will be at around 78-80 which i like to have a little higher.
i use the thinner flexxwatt (i believe its like 2" wide) but im soon going to get the wider stuff (i believe its 8" wide)
oh yea i use sterilite tubs also theyre really good i might be switching though to these under the bed tubs that are gigantic im currently working on a new rack system for the kids.

I would not push a basking spot much more than that.
.
Remember though, a warm basking area doesn't correct low air temps. If you are thinking raising the basking temp will compensate a low ambient, you might want to rethink your caging.

Re: tub question??
if you have the tstat directly on the mat readin 92 degrees might want to check inside the tub too it will probably be much lower than that, from my experience anyway.

i didnt measure the mat temp i im only concerned with the in cage temp the mat is sticky side up under glass {so mat is elevated 1/4. glass is stuck to the mat and tub sits directly on glass}temp sez 95 in cage/bin right now with a thermostat regulator am i good to put a boa in...... i hate bins already!!!

Re: tub question??
i dunno what your methods are, to me thats a bit high of a temp. i think a solid 90 is a good temp, but thats just me. what temp did you have the floor at before uth? just go with that you should be ok.

Re: tub question??
how long is ur bin? make sure the mat only cover a third of the floor spacing. and that the snake has a place to go to cool down my set is currently at 89.8 on the warm side, and 80-81 on the cool side with around 83 for the ambient air temp. i have a suriname boa tho but the temps should def be around the same! what kind of boa did you get? =) good luck with the set up!
