Killer deal on 6' enclosures!!!
Two stackable 6' enclosures on CL for $150!:
2 6ft stackable reptile cages
What do you guys of these for the price?
Do you think these could be painted or made to look pretty to go in my living room?

Re: Killer deal on 6' enclosures!!!
I think they could look very nice with a bit of new paint. If I were you I'd go for it. Can't beat that price!
I wonder how it was heated though...?

Re: Killer deal on 6' enclosures!!!
Thanks, I may go look at them. There is a beautiful 6' black low cabinet that would make a great pedestal at Scandinavia Designs. If I could paint these black, they may look pretty cool.

Re: Killer deal on 6' enclosures!!!
Unfortunately, I think they use CHE's, which I am tryng to get away from. But the price is right. I got both my snakes from Scales and Tails, where those cages come from. It is altogether possible that Jesse and Veronica once lived in them!

Re: Killer deal on 6' enclosures!!!
Never mind. It's sold.
But I also found a 60-gal glass tank that is front opening. These are hard to find. It would be an improvement over Jesse's 40 gallon that sits on a countertop and requires a stepstool to open.

Re: Killer deal on 6' enclosures!!!
reptile cage
This would tide Jesse over for another year, so I can still save up money for the boaphiles or something else.

Re: Killer deal on 6' enclosures!!!
Is it one of those eco-terra cages?
You'd have to put climbing branches in there I think, looks like a good cage for something arboreal. Should be okay for a BCC for a short while though. Good price too.

Re: Killer deal on 6' enclosures!!!
I emailed him to find out the dimensions. If it's longer than the 40 gallon, it might work for a year or two for Jesse, since he is so slow growing. Aside from the 40-gallon being too small for him, it is a pain to open and close it since it sits on top of a tall countertop. The front opening cages are much easier. I originally looked for one for Veronica, but there was a limited number of them made, and they are hard to find.

Re: Killer deal on 6' enclosures!!!
You know, you meant that as a joke, but little did you know I actually used to have those colors in here. I had a hot pink velvet sofa and pink and orange furniture. I even painted a few of my kitchen walls pink and orange. It looked really bad so I painted over them. So what do you do with pink and orange furniture when you're done with them? What else! Craig's list. Somewhere out there was a young woman who was dying for a crushed pink velvet sofa set and was willing to pay top dollar for it. Go figure. The garage sale I got them from couldn't even give them away. thanks for the trip down memory lane!

Re: Killer deal on 6' enclosures!!!
Hi Sherri,
I know it's not pretty looking but this set up works very well for me and did not cost very much to make and is easy to make to. I am sure you take your boas out on a weekly basis like I do so they do get exercise and don't live there entire lives stuffed in a tub. The other good thing about this set up is it's very easy to clean.
I made this 4 foot wide rack system and it has lots of air flow around it and it is on wheel so you can move it around when you need to. I used a wire shelving system and the Sterilite 15 qt. tub # 1754 for baby boas and the Sterilite 74 qt. tub # 1969 for sub adults and boas about 6 feet long and less than 12 to 15 lbs. The 1754 tub measures 17 inches x 11 inches x 6 - 3/8 inches and the 1969 tub measures 44 inches x 19 - 3/4 inches x 6 - 3/8 inches. I also used 4 inch flexwatt along the back of each shelf to heat the tubs.
Set up like this picture cost me about $350 with 4 inch X 44 inch flexwatt on each shelf. I had to buy 2 wire shelving set ups to make this one. The shelving cost around $80.00 each at Sam's club. Bought the tubs at Target, the flex watt on line and the 1/4 inch masonite sheets to mount the flexwatt to at Lowes. If you want to talk to me about this set up PM or e-mail me your phone number and a good time to call you.
Take care
Tom

Re: Killer deal on 6' enclosures!!!
Thanks, Tom, but no racks for me, specially not in my living room. I don't really need a rack system since I only have two snakes. Not that they don't work great for multiple snakes in a separate snake room. One of your custom enclosures would be perfect, if only you'd move to Denver.....

Re: Killer deal on 6' enclosures!!!
What about ordering some cages from SCink? His really are reasonably priced and look nice. I think he has RHP's on his site as well, which would be your best bet for heating....other than a Kane heat mat.
.
Just a thought...

Re: Killer deal on 6' enclosures!!!
It's the shipping costs that kill me. If I'm going to have anything shipped, it will be Boaphiles.
I looked for pics of my old pink and orange furniture. But I think I deleted the pics. They matched perfectly with John's cage.

OMG, check this out!
Display Case
All it needs is a divider shelf, and presto--multi-reptile enclosure.

Re: Killer deal on 6' enclosures!!!
How hard would it be to put vent holes, a shelf divider, some radiant heat panels, and two sets of doors for the two snakes?

Seriously? Do you think it's something I could do myself? I'm going to look at it tomorrow. Sure is cheaper than boaphiles.

Re: Killer deal on 6' enclosures!!!
It sounds like it is plexiglass on three sides (including the back.) The back needs to be wood, and I'd have to replace the doors with 2 sets of two doors.
