Re: New enclosure I started tonight!!!
first off you need to get rid of that cordless drill.
Also get rid of the old fashion hammer, and get a nail gun
Looking good.

Re: New enclosure I started tonight!!!
Looking good. I second what has already been said about your Suriname outgrowing the "Arboreal" stage of his/her life, therefore making the extra heighth something that is not used. One thing is for sure that you are building quite a cage and what a lucky little Suri.

Looking good!
Don't have any suggestions. I have never built anything. But I really want to give building a cage a try myself.
I'd like to put in rock tiles on the back and sides if I build one. It'd be really heavy though I suppose...

I know what you mean, I wanted to put down 100% slate tiles down and a marble tile back on my next enclosure. But the cost is way high.

Well, maybe just only have tiles half way up. And if you could find enough flat rocks and peice them together, that might work, and it'd be free.

Re: New enclosure I started tonight!!!
Well I am going to be using RHP once I get one ordered.and UTH For the time being it will be UTH and Basking Lamps.
As for stone, you guys should check out vaneer stone. I am a mason and am thinking of using some stone in this enclosure for sure.

Re: New enclosure I started tonight!!!
Yea RHP are the way to go for sure. They create a natural temp gradient and dont burn the occupant of the "condo"

Re: New enclosure I started tonight!!!
I agree with Xeike, it's nice and tall, but may be unused space for a BCC or even a chondro. From the breeders I've talked to, chondros usually perch in one area and don't seem to use large enclosures.
It may be a moot point now, but I've always heard to stain and polyurethane the wood before putting the cage together. I wouldn't worry with shower surround, just use the plywood with a couple coats of polyurethane.
Second you mentioned saving up for an AP cage. I would have saved the money and time spent building the custom cage for the AP cage. Just save $5 a pay check and I'm sure you'll have the money for a 6' AP cage when she's big enough to use it. To each their own though, I have a friend who's doing the same thing, building cages now just to have something to put them in. Then he'll build others in a few years that are "better".

Re: New enclosure I started tonight!!!
Yeah Owen thats the plan once I get another BCC. It wont take much to make another level and I definately will be doing that sometime down the road.
As for saving money for an AP cage and not spending on this. I have only put $30 into this so far. And like I said before, I doubt boas in Suriname and Guyana just lay around on the ground all their life. I feel like the whole 2 feet of headspace rule was created by breeders to conserve space and Im not a breeder so im cool with wasted space until I have more BCC's. As always thanks for the input!!!
More Pics from tonights progress coming up in minutes.....
