question about heating pad from wal-mart

I have just built a cage using melamine.The question is can i use a heating pad from wal-mart inside the cage underneath outdoor carpet?If so would it raise the ambient temp of the cage or would it just give me a hot spot?

Yes try it on low...and if not warm enough medium...never on high. It won't raise ambient temps much but will provide a warm spot for your snake? to lay on to help digest. What are you putting in this cage? What is the room temp now? What else can you use to safely heat the cage if needed?
