Well, seems like it took forever to finish this thing, but it's finally done. Still have some interior decorating to do, but the enclosure is done anyway... I started it about a week before xmas...
It's a 4'x2'x2' with a 1' deep shelf. Dunno if she'll ever use the shelf or not, but it's there anyway. And dig that pull handle...
The plexiglass door flips all the way down and hangs vertically, and has a magnetic catch when closed. There's a barrel bolt on each side to keep the big girl from pushing it open, and a large center barrel bolt that can be locked with a padlock. That feature is just to keep small hands out of the cage if the need ever arises.
The vents on the side are simple 2 1/2" holes covered with stainless steel shower drain covers inside and out. The Rubbermaid hide box you see here is her humidity box. I had to cover it with a towel since it is transparent and wasn't really dark enough for her to think of it as a "hide" at all. It will be replaced soon with a new hide...
The heat is done via a PH-3 Pro Heat radiant heat panel mounted to the ceiling. The surface temp directly under the heat pad on the shelf are 92-95 degrees, 85-88 degrees on the floor, and 78-80 degrees on the cool side where the water is.
I added a small open bowl with a wet washcloth in it directly under the heat panel on the shelf. That brought the humidity up to 73%. Since the top of the enclosure is solid it holds humidity very well... I think if I vary the distance between the bowl with the wet washcloth and the heat panel, I can get the humidity dialed in to wherever I want it...
Whatcha think?
Dave

Nice job!
Must have taken a while. I wish I could find the time to get one of those built. So many herps and not enough time.
I hope your snake enjoys its new home.

Well, I've never been accused of being a crapenter and most attempts at making some out of wood turn out looking like a 3rd grade class project. I can cut grind and weld a bunch of pieces of scrap steel into something useable, but wood usually doesn't seem to like me much...
I'm pretty happy with this viv though, I no longer have to keep my entire computer room heated to 90 degrees!!!!!

it's kinda funny, the cage i'm just about to complete is almost identical to yours. only differences are that mine has sliding plexiglas doors and a shelf that only runs half the length! my question for you is this... i also have the exact same Pro-Heat panel. how did you attach it to the ceiling of the cage? i don't want to use the bolts they provided because they will pop through the top quite a bit. i have some standard 3/4" wood screws i think i will use, but just want your input. thanks! oh, and by the way, nice work!!

I used some standard #10 x 1/2" wood screws. They are just barely short enough that they didn't poke out the other side, and they recessed into the panel like the ones that came with it are supposed to do, so I was able to put the caps over the holes as well.
I wasn't sure that Darla was using the shelf at all, but just this morning when I got up she was up there basking herself under the heat panel.
