Last nite, I came home, left a message under my neighbor's door to call me in the morning so I could come get the cage. Well, she probably didn't know how badly I wanted the cage, because she never called. Hehe. Well, I went over there and got the cage from her. I unpacked it, and man, I have never seen so much bubble wrap in my life. LOL The cage is awesome. I love it, and I am definitely getting more. I put Zaida, my bigger female hog in there, and she seems happy. The cage is temporary, she will get a bigger one later, but it is definitely a big step-up from the 20 long that she was sharing for a few months w/ the smaller female (I'm ashamed to admit this also, but since slap came clean, I'm coming clean, too). This cage kicks #$%^$%^$%^&, I tells ya!

I love the cages, but have you guys noticed that you can stick your whole hand in between the plexiglass and inside the cage even with it locked?? I had to use duct tape to make sure my boas didnt get out. If I can push it I knw they can too. Have ya'll had any go AWOL yet?

Karen...my suggestion to fix that problem would be to add a third lock along the top. I have not seen anyone push their hand through there, but if you can do that, a third lock in the middle would certainly take care of it.
I have not gotten my first Boaphile cages yet. I am currently saving up to buy the large shelf cages for my girls. I have to say that I am looking forward to getting them though!
Congrats on the new cage Bry!

yeah, good question is how long (front wise) is the cage in question. On mine you can't get a finger (let alone a hand) through anywhere....

I noticed that Karen wrote the following in a post;
"I love the cages, but have you guys noticed that you can stick your whole hand in between the plexiglass and inside the cage even with it locked?? I had to use duct tape to make sure my boas didnt get out. If I can push it I knw they can too. Have ya'll had any go AWOL yet?"
I will be happy to send anyone an additional latch that can be mounted in the center of the cage if you like. We mount this additional latch for anyone who asks about it and especially recommend it for people with Burmese Pythons and Retics which push a lot. I personally have more than 90 of these cages without the center latch including scores of female Boas that are over 30 lbs. none of which has gotten out of her cage.
Please let me know what your real name is and what address you would like me to ship a latch to. Please email it to me as I don't spend much time on forums. I just happened to notice this one. I sure hate the idea of duct tape being on the cage. Yucky.
I sure wish I had gotten an email from Karen about this concern. I think what Karen is referring to is if you grab a hold of the knob on the door and pull it you can force the door open wide enough to insert her hand. I think I or anyone would actually have a lot more pulling strength than a Boa or similar herp would have pushing strength. Anyhow while I think it is very unlikely something could escape we are happy to add this extra latch whenever requested at no additional charge.
I do have another question though. Why wouldn't someone who thought that there was a problem like this not notify the manufacturer of this possible flaw? I think I would let them know. This would be a huge help to me in trying to make the best possible cage that suits the most Herpers possible. How can I address a possible issue if I am not aware of it? We perhaps more than most are very interested in feedback as this helps us do our job better and make for better products for everyone to use.
Anyone with any concerns about anything cage related please let me know OK?
Thank you,
Jeff

I agree with you Jeff.... complaints do need to be directed so that the manufacturer can address the problems.
Now Jeff why dont you send off about three of those cages to me for "testing" I will let you know if I can get my hand thru the doors
