We use Non-Contact Laser sighted thermometers for racing, to measure track surface temps, and assorted engine part temps. They are dead-on accurate, but they are expensive.

I believe the one we use in made by Tacom. I have no experience with the Digi_tech brand. Also, they are no good for measuring air temps, just surface temps.
