has anyone used it??? what are the pros and cons for using it. it is aout 20 dollars cheaper than melamine. i think i a going to build my cages out of it. i built my friends form the stuff and he says his snakes are fine.

When you say partilcle board do you mean OSB (Strand Board) or Fiber Board?

Either one can be used but must be sealed very well to make sure that the board does not absorb any moisture and leech off fumes as the wood and glue breaks down.

I think it's a waste of time and money, that stuff will break down rapidly, sealed or not, from the heat and humidity. Spend a little more and get a lot more mileage out of it...

Any man-made planks of wood(particle board being one)have both glues and chemicals in them. Therefore, if you use them, you must line the inside of the cage with something and seal the edges. I hear linoleum works good, but you have to use silicone along the edges. Personally, I think it is much better to go with plywood, it is glued and chemical treated the same as particle board but it will last a lot longer.
