Go to Walmart and buy a couple of heating pads, they are usually like $8 each. Does your oven work? Seal off your kitchen as best you can, turn on your oven, open the door, and move your snakes in there. It's a temp. fix until your heat is back on....when will they fix it?

ok as far as when the heat will be fixed well I will call them at 10 when the office opens. Secondly I went to target and bough 2 space heaters to put in the same room as my cages. I'll see if that works. The people should come out today to fix the heat. I just hope it is something simple and not a problem with the building. This is the second time this year that the heat went out. Lucky for me the first time was only right when the temps started to drop back in sep. OK so do u guys/girls thing tha space heaters will work??

It all depends on the size of the room and wattage and BTUH rating on the heaters, but space heaters are better than no heaters!
It would require approx 18,600 btuh (british thermal units per hour) to give a 400 SF room a 20° rise in temp. (A 1500 Watt space heater will put out approx 5119.35 BTUH)
(watt * 3.4129 = BTUH)
Ok so there is the math lesson for the day

You also have to factor in the windows and doors if they are well insulated or not...but I will not go into that...lol. I would think that would be fine since I heat a 1300 sf house with 3 small space heaters most of the time. I bring out the 4th and 5th if they seem to be having trouble. The only thing you will not have a variant but for the short time it will be out, they should be ok. Do you have a regular heat source also? UTH or Light? Just wondering.

When I saw this post, I thought that the POWER was out, but if it is only the heat, it isn't really anything to worry about. You can just get some space heaters going, some heat lamps, uth's/heating pads.

ok ......i finaly got the heat back on But while it was off i had a space heater going, and it worked very well. To answer the question , yes I do have a uth and a light. Hopefully with the heat problem fixed I may be able to get rid of the light.
Ok check this out. Right when I got home with the space heater and bent down to set it infront of the tank my little girl snaped at the glass. She did this 3 times. She has never done that before and never shown any aggression when I take her out to be handled. Anyone know why she snaped at me??? Was she just telling me she was mad that her home got so cold??

My guess on the striking is that she was sensing the extreme heat of the heater and striking at that.

This is just an afterthought but, since you said this has happened before. You may want to leave one of the space heaters plugged up and set so that it comes on ONLY when the temp is lower than you normally keep it. That way if the heat goes out in the middle of the night, the space heater will kick on and at least help keep it alittle warmer in there untill you wake up. About the stiking, I've no idea...lol

I wouldn't be that concerned about it... she's not doing it anymore, right? Maybe you just took her by surprise, setting the space heater down in front of her.
