First question. Ok I have a boaphile plasitcs 48x24x12 cage for my boa. she is about 5 feet, but still fairly thin as she is growing in length more than width right now. My first question is that how many accessories should i have in my cage? I think that i have too many as there is not much room for her. I will tell you about my setup. On the warm side I have a hide and a small water bowl, directly against the side. In the middle of the cage I have a small wooden hut for a hide that I think she never really goes in, and I think it may be too small for her. Right behind that in the middle I have a small wooden branch that is very small and I don't even think it can support her. on the cool side I have another hide and another small water bowl against the wall. so total I have 3 hides, one she never goes in; 2 small water bowlsl; and a small branch. Is this too much should I take some of this out to give her more room to move around?
Second question. My two water bowls are small. She can not fit into either of these, should I take both of these out and replace them with one big water bowl she can fit into on the cool side?
Third question. For her heating set up I have two flexwatt one foot by one foot taking up half of her cage for a "half warm side, half cool side" Now the way I control this flexwatt is by a little reptile thermostat I bought from Busch Herp. Now this thermostat runs at one temperature, hot. And when the temperature gets desired, about 86-88 on hot side the thermostat simply turns off the heat. Would it be better to run a dimmer to get a constat, less intense source of heat to regulate the temperature, than my thermostate I have now that runs hot and then shuts off or is it ok?
any advice is appreciated
