Keeping your critters cool
Greetings All,
I am a manufacturer of electronic products, custom assemblies and AC and DC cooling fans and accessories. (The link to my fan website is on my profile.)
I have just completed work on a new line of DC, waterproof fans capable of withstanding water jet spray from all directions. I will be adding a new section to my website dedicated to folks who enjoy critters in enclosed environments and the new section will feature these new items.
I am looking for suggestions and advice on how best to serve your needs as pet owners. I can design and tool custom products if there are enough people interested.
So - feel free to comment or ask questions.
Thank you in advance and a special thanks to natas for suggesting that I launch this thread.

Yeah, design a fan, a monitor can't stick it's tongue in. Water proof fans are a great idea but I tend to keep my electrical stuff away from water sources as much as possible. I do use small cooling fans, a reverse switch for air flow exchange would be very nice or a 2 fan set up like the window fans have.

Very good point...I could see that being a very big problem...maybe there is some kind of cloth or material that has high air flow but is knit tight enough so their tongues wont go into tho fan...maybe a nylon cheese cloth would work

Yes, we currently are using cloths and screens but a fan that came with it would be sweeeeet. When the little monsters are let out of the house we have to turn all the house fans off so they don't put there tongues in them.

This would be your best option. BTW - we do not sell anything direct. I have a list of distributors on my website though. There are lots of local and a few worldwide distributors to choose from. Allied Electronics and Mouser Electronics currently have these items in stock. You can order them online.
A reversible fan would be very difficult to do. I can give you the engineering reasons if you like but suffice it to say that it would be cost prohibitive.
We do however have mini "fan racks" that have multiple fans installed that we did for a computer manufacturer a few years back. I can check with my factories to see if we still have the tooling if you like.

Re: Keeping your critters cool
The fans we use are 5 dollars, I don't know if it would be worth the switch especially if I can not buy direct from you. I hate third party dealings but thanks for the advice.

You don't need to buy the fan(s) again. You can just buy the filter and attach with standard mounting screws. All of my filters are under $10 each and most are much less than that.
