Hey all! It's been a while since I've been here! To all of you who supported me in the move, thanks a bunch! Peaches (RTB) made the trip fine in my back seat and since the move I have acquired a snow corn from the local pet store. Named it Snow White... gee whiz, I see why they say corns are good beginner snakes... eats on its own, sheds on its own... it's completely self-sufficient! Ok, now for the question... I've been hesitant to buy a CHE before because of the price but lately am considering, so do CHE "burn out" like a light bulb? I haven't ever heard anything about this and am just wondering. Thanks, and it's great to be back!

i personally think they are the best heat element on the market!

i have dropped mine a million times and they are still here

i also have some that are 4 yrs old and they are kickin'!!!! all are on to varying degrees 24 hrs a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a yr, for yrs. i am actually amazed. this post made me thik about it.

i also go with zoomed. i think they are the best, and have the best warranty

if you read the label you'll see that they last a long time. all you have to do is keep your package (the warranty) if something goes wrong- you can get it taken care of.

bulbs- especially ESU dont last this long (usually)

oh yeah, when you plug them in for the first time you will notice a smell. its just the ceramic baking. its not too bad and leaves in about a 1/2 hr. dont get scared.

i actually went to the store and burned them there because of that

good luck

Yeah, what CB76 said, I have one that just turned 2 years and it's still going strong. They may cost a little more, but well worth it considering the life of them and how many normal bulbs you'd go through in that time.

In my opinion CHE's are good for smaller cages like 20L or smaller but for a larger cage it makes a small warm area or a really bad hot spot. I like radient heat pannels better myself.
