How much is enough?!
Hey everybody I was wondering if anyone had any idea, possibly a rule of thumb, as to how much bedding I would need to cover a 4' wide by 18" deep enclosure? It's not for a burrowing herp, so no need for extra depth. I'm gonna be ordering up some mulch online and I have no idea how many quarts/cubic feet to get! Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks all

think of it this way: if you order too much, you have enough for next time

4' by 1.5' is like 6' square feet. To determine cubic feet, figure out how deep you want it. Cubic feet is length x height x width, or just your sqaure feet x height. You have 6 sqaure feet. So one inch deep would be 6' x .083 (one inch, in terms of feet) or a total of a half cubic foot. I hope you're as confused as me.

Why are you ordering it online when you can go to a home goods store and buy it for around 3 bucks a bag?

Haha, thanks for your info, but I was an english major!! Numbers mean nothing to me!! In all seriousness, one cubic foot would stock me well, and set me up for a total replacement, correct? I'm fine with buying more, like everyone stated, but I just wanna visualize how much I'm actually purchasing and filling up. Thanks everybody

One cubic foot should do you just fine, but I'd probably be safe and order a little more. You never know how well it wil unpack and end up being, and you may need it a little deeper if you have a UTH or something. I'd be safe the first go round and get 2 or even 3 cubic feet.
