Taller or longer?
I recently adopted a 7' F RTB, I have a male and would like to house them together. I was planning on making a coffee table type tank (a big coffee table 3 1/2 ft by 6 ft), but when looking up ideas, I noticed that most of the RTBs were in tall cages. I know that they are arboreal when they are younger but, is it bad to keep them in a short long cage vs. a tall shorter cage?

Male isn't ready to breed yet he's still young, I wouldn't mind them breeding but I will probably build another tank when that time comes if I don't want them to. Right now space is tight.

with that big of a size diffrance there might b a crush risk but its not the worst thing you could do if you have to house them togeather make sure you dont feed togeather and go for the more floor space rather then the hight

Where are you going to house her for quarantine? If you don't have enough space to house her separately long term, do you intend to quarantine her from the other? you could be endangering them both by not doing so, aside from the worries of keeping them together afterwards which I won't go into.
To answer your question, for RTBs, longer, not taller.

Ya I feed him in a seprate container and he's on pre-killed, ok.
I never thought about him being crushed, is that common? Is there a high probablitlty of that happening?

I am going to be picking her up in a few days from a rescue group, they got her yesterday but don't have that much room so she is being housed in a small container until I can get her. My guy is in a 40 breeder, I was planning on making him a new tank this week and then the female turned up. I would really like to get him in a larger tank asap, but how long should she be quarantine....

The male was ready to breed at 18 months and/or about 3-3 1/2 feet. Males breed young. A 7 foot female will breed with him now and then probably eventually crush his guts out if you keep them together. Perhaps a new game plan would be better. If you allow these snakes to breed in a coffee table where there is lots of people traffic, stress levels will become way more than you want to deal with. While the whole coffee table idea seems like a really cool idea...and pretty much every snake keeper has at least thought about doing it...it really isn't a good idea if the health and well being of your animals are something you care about...same can be said for housing them together.

I adopted her from a Herpetological society; they saw my male and said that it would be ok to house them together.... I'm not usually an impulse buyer and usually research everything I'm interested in, but I thought I was getting all the right information from them..... Now I know..... So what would be recommended for two tanks? If I made them stackable how tall should they each be?

The room they are going is an office, with not much traffic except for me on my computer.... I just wanted a tank that sat on and low to the floor so it would resemble a piece of furniture.
