Suggestions on Boaphile Cages?
I really want to get a boaphile for my male boa ( 5ft ) around christmas. Is a 421D good for him for life? Hes over 3 yrs old so he isnt growin much more. Also what should i do for heating should i use their flexwatt heating? Is the 1.5 enough for a house that stays 68-72 all year round? Thanks for any reply's. Pics would be great is anyone has them with their boas, pythons etc in them. Just to give me a size refrence please tell me how big the snake inside the cage is thanks.

I'm curious about this as well. My main concern is that the glass is not easy to remove and the heat is built in so what do you do if you want to take them outside to wash them? Do you just spot clean? What a pain if you are using a substrate like Aspen. It doesn't like it would be easy to clean them, but I look forward to hearing comments about this since I'm interested in them too.

I was planning on using butcher paper or this wrapping card board like paper both are tan and look well and super absorbent. Ive given up on loos substrates thier a pain to change and clean. Plus humidity gets too high in an enclosed cage like a boaphil i think.

Just get the boaphile 421D without the built in heat. If you do that than you can just use a reptitherm heat mat or something. and its plenty of room for him for life.

Well one thing to take note with Boaphile is they don't keep cages in stock, so if you wanted one before Xmas. your probably out of luck there, I do believe it takes at least 7-8 weeks to make and ship.
Others were talking about animal plastics cages, you may want to check them out. The only negitive thing I have heard about Boaphile is that they warp. I can not attest to this myself, just going by what I have cought ear of.
you may try these guys too Showcase Cages 1 800 471-2243
There in stock, look good and are one sale rite now and have free shipping.
Hopes this helps you some

Just visit the site...I believe Jeff has everything you need to know Boaphile Plastics!!! The FIRST source of nearly every plastic cage/rack innovation in existence! I just placed an order earlier on in the month for the 15 Sweater Box Rack...I can't wait!! Jeff was a great guy to deal with on the phone and answered all my questions. I sent in my PayPal payment without any hesitation or questioning myself

I ordered two while I was still in Iraq and love them. I got the 5322D cages with 1.5 flexwatt heat installed. Cleaning has been really easy on these, too. I use aspen and normally only need to spot clean. When I want to do a full-blown cleanup, I just pull out the shop-vac. I'm planning on picking up a couple more of these next year. I like the looks of his arboreal cages, too, but don't know if I'll buy one of those or use the plans in the how-to section and build my own

oh so with boaphile do you have to use flexwatt??? I'm flewwatt impared, I use stickey under tank heaters from exo-terra... there the only ones I've seen in the stores around here, would these be fine for boaphile??? could they possible melt the plastic?
Can you install your own heating after you get the cage or is it best to pay the extra money and get them to install it for you?

I got my heat installed and never ended up using it. I like just having a nice plain boaphile and then you can use whatever heat pad you use and trust. It wont melt the plastic if its on a thermostat and only hot enough for your snake like 90ish... You can choose if you want heat installed or not, but for me its cheaper to just buy a heat mat or use one you already have. Also I like not having any eletrical "stuff" attached so i can hose it down if i need too.

I have always used human heating pads on my tub set ups. Would this work with boaphiles? The tubs i use have about a 1" cleareance from the floor so the heat mat doesnt touch the tub so theres no warping involved. I just place the tub over it and it gets put on low and gets the spot to 88-90 always. Would bophile be any different? I prefer the human heating pads they never have caused me any trouble for almost 2 years i have had them on! So no detering me away from using them!
