homemade day/light timer??

I want to know if anyone can help me out on this. i want to make my own day/light timer for some of my cages. i have three that ares stacked and im getting tired of having to turn the lights on and off everyday myself. i dont want to buy one of those already timer strips as they have only dedicated plugs for daytime and nighttime and that would make me have to switch the plugs.

weve all seen the link for the homemade dimmers....which i have made many of those. can i use the same idea and use the extension cord and then just a simple timer that you can get for like 10 bucks with the dial and have all three cages that are stacked all into one timer??

if anyone can help or have done made something in this manner please help and if possible post a few pics of how you did yours please.

Alright this is as simple as it gets, but I took pictures just incase I lose you.

I bought this 6.99 Timer with a ground plug at Home Depot.

And going off of it I have a cheap 3.99 plug strip.

It works great. Its also a treat to see all the lights in my snake room go off simutaniously like clockwork.

BTW: I have 3 of these setup, and they all work great.

Good Luck, Hope this helps.

Yep, you can put pretty much as much on one timer as you need within reason - the only thing you might want to watch is not OVERLOADING the timer with tooooooo many plugs (in case it can't handle the wattage). If you can find timers that have a grounded prong, get that since it's a wee bit safer.

yes i went and got a timer with a cover so the timer doesnt get changed on accident and it also has the ground prong. i only have three lights hooked up to it so its good.
