I would like to fit some kind of lighting in my Boa's viv. He has enough heat and the light would mainly be for display purposes or/and when I was cleaning the viv. I would of course turn the light off at night to allow for provision of day and night environments.

If the lighting provided more heat it would not be too much of a problem as I can turn my thermostat down on my heater and I guess it could provide a good temp change for day/night. Hmmm, never thought of that before!

Any recommendations and any definite no-no's

By the way, my viv is 4ft x 3ft x 2ft

A shielded flourescent would light it up well.

By shielded, I mean with a protected lamp and secured in a way that the snake coldn't climb on it and tear it off, break the lamp etc.
Something with a solid plastic cover on it.

The way you mount it will also determine a lot of the potential hazards.

Thanks eddie that is BRILLIANT. The image really helped and showed something I had not thought of. That way I can add the light without taking any space away from the snake. I like it!
