For my new enclosure, the front will be plexiglass.. Sides will be pine with the right having a swinging door.. Back will be a large screen for venting.. Now im debating on using plexiglass as a bottom too with aspen bark.. It seems like it'd be easy to clean when the time came, what do ya'll think of this idea?
Another thing im wondering.. When i move my temp/humidity gauges into the new cage, will super glue be acceptable to reapply them? It withstands heat and water, but im wondering if it will give off any fumes or whatever when heated.. Thanks..

Would be a good idea to have a frame in the front that could also work as a dam for the substrate. I am not sure about using superglue as it could give off vapors. A little contact cement will work like a charm though.

Since I hear that cedar and pine are bad for substrate, does this apply to their cages as well. you mention using pine for the sides.

Woah that is a good question.. Pine is a hard wood though and i've got some nice quality board to work with.. I don't think it'll be a problem.. Plus all wood will be stained before he ever he thinks about moving in..

instead of s-glue, try velcro. it holds up great, easy to remove, and works great. make sure in addition to staining, you seal it with a polyurethane. -Juggalo

Pine is fine for enclosures. Just make sure if you stain the wood, try to get some water based paint. Also, apply at least 3 coats of Polycrylic and let the fumes cure for a week or two.

Another alternative to Superglue would be aquarium silicone as an adhesive...the same used to glue glass vivarium walls together with.
