ambient air temperature
I need advice. I am setting up a cage that is 54" by 36" by 18" tall. I am using flexwatt under about 1/2 of the cage with a light for basking. That side is perfect with a basking temp of 90-92. The other side i have a probe to check the temp and the ambient air temp is only 74 degrees. I set the cage up last night. how do I get the ambient temp up on the "cool" side? There is nothing in the cage at the moment until the temps get correct. Humidity is okay at around 50%. Thanks so much!!

Im assuming your flexxwatt is under the basking lamp?
If it is you can add some more on the other end. What are you going to house in there? It may not need that warm, or it may be fine the way it is.?
Im not familiar with flexxwat...I use UTHs..

i would use a piece of flexwatt or uth under the cool side to bring it up a little more as needed. maybe use a dimmer to control it since you wont need it on high.

The cage will house a one year old BCI.....The cage is sort of an experiment. Beauregard is in a 421d boaphile and I was given a vision cage that is bigger...54" by 36" by 18" tall. I like the boaphile, except for the height. I have a hard time getting in the cage to clean..etc..I am trying this vision cage to see which one I like the best.. I had a zoomed under tank heater that I put at the opposite end of the flexwatt on the side of the cage. I have a dimmer on it. The temp has come up to 80.8 for the ambient temp and the basking area is 92. I am going to leave it for a few days to regulate temp before i decide which one i will use. thanks everyone for your advice.
