New Type Of Hide?
Well i found this at a fabric store here called jo-ann's it says it's a 10" coco liner, looks just like it's formed out of coco fiber into a bowl shape, here's my question is it harmful? i mean it's a bit rough but i dont see how that'd cause any problems, it's extremely light, and flexible, only problem is i dont know how it'll handle up to moisture or being wet, any thoughts? Made by garden Gate Designs, says it's a coco planter, 10" coco liner 1 piece that's it any thoughts?

I've looked at those too - They are made to go in the bottom of hanging basket planters for the roots to grow into. I dont think that moisture would be a big problem (since they can be used outside) but you might want to watch it for mold or whatever. You could soak it in some disinfectant and then let it dry to see how it holds up to the soaking. I think it gets a little harder over time but other than that I don't see any reason why you couldn't use it. If you do use it, let me know how it works out....

It looks good to me! My only concern would be that it may be TOO light! I don't know how big your snake is but if it fills up the inside it'll scoot the hide around while he positions him/herself. Not a big deal or anything, it's just one of those things i consider when buying accessories. Other than that, I say go for it!

Hey Hey Hey.... now granted I'm a female, but I go in ALL kinds of stores looking for things to modify for my herps. Its almost on obsession - I look at things and go "how can I turn that into something productive for one of my snakes..." instead of "hey thats a cool *insert name of object here*" . I even drag my boyfriend into home depot so I can build things

If it's made out of conconut husk, it's very durable stuff and should stand up great to moisture. I would check it for mold and the like, but my understanding is that it is fairly resistant to mold.
I'll note that I've never used it, so I'm just regurging info I have read or been privy to via friends using it.

dollar tree sells 4 foot plastic and silk vines too... oh and to get a better deal on decorative plants at craft stores... wait until the seasons change (ie: spring to summer, summer to fall). Most craft stores get new foliage in for the new season so that people can decorate with seasonal silk plants, and so they usually discount the ones that are going out

yeah i know i didn't go there, but i'm glad i got this hide she liked it and i think i'm gonna spray it down tonight to boost her humidity since it's an aquarium, i think if the inside of it is nice and moist it should create a good little humidity chamber, what do you think?

being made for plants, i would think it would hold it pretty well, then again it might not hold water at all (made to keep the water inside the plants maybe?) I'm not sure.
