for those of you with boaphiles...
who also have undercage heat x2. where do you put your thermostat probes at? with the burms cage, i just set the probe on the inside of the cage, right on the newspaper, and homer never bothers it, but adrian moves it all the way across her enclosure.

Kobe moves his around, but only when he's hungry. I'm considering drilling a hole in the warm side of his cage and just popping it through there and plugging up the hole behind it so he can take it anywhere. I'd just attach something to the cord on the outside so that it could only be taken in a few inches and would therefore never leave the heat.

That's why I don't use thermostats I use rheostats and a temp gun to check periodically to see if it needs adjusting.

You put the probe UNDER the heat pad under the cage?
All thats going to tell you is how warm it is under the heat pad.
The temp in the cage will be different depending on how thick the plastic is, and how long the heat is on.
Heat rises, so a temp reading under the heat pad will not accurately reflect the surface temp in the cage.
At least it doesnt sound like it will.

hey guys....I drilled a hole in the back of mine just big enough for the probe to slide through. It's just above the floor so that the newspaper covers it. I used aquarium sealent to close the hole in the back and used it to seat the probe to the bottom of the cage. I've had mine around three years now and it works great.
