We have portable oil electric heaters in our basement snake room. We buy them at Target for $40 each. They are attached to Rheostats for saftey and accuracy. They just need to be in the middle of room for fire hazard. Raises temps a few degrees per heater in our 1,000 square foot room. Good luck.

I also use the oil filled radiators. The ones with digital thermostats are a bit more but will heat to a specific temp more reliably. I have one sitting on carpet in my bedroom and have no problems ($350 a month heating bills will cause ou to seek other heating methods ::grins: I bought mine at Home Depot ... But have also seen them at wal-mart.
