Stanfield Mat and Aspen

I'd like to try aspen substrate, but I have a question for the heating pros (Matt, etc.).

I have a Stanfield heat mat (18" x24") running and a CHE. The Stanfield paperwork said don't cover it with anything. But it's designed for piglets, so I'm sure it gets covered by fodder and/or piglets.

Obviously, it's not running at full temp (rheostat) so there's not much of a heat issue, and I have a temp probe directly on the Stanfield and keep it at about 85 degrees.

Do you see any problems with having aspen on top of the heat mat? Would you put the aspen all around but avoid covering the mat?

Is there anyone else here using Stanfield mats (or anything comparable) and if so, what do you use for substrate?

Thanks in advance.

Well with my BP and my Burm it doesn't matter I use aspen for both of them, but I don't use that type of heat. But they do burry themselves I have noticed to get to the heat, so I don't belive it would be a problem at all. They should burry closer to the heat if they want more heat.
