Is is usual for boas to have a favorite hide? When I first got Ted, I got him a small half log. Well, that was the only one in his cage for about a month and he got use to it. I learned from here that he really should have at least two, so I got him a larger one and put it on the other side of the tank. Well, it seems like he'll always choose the smaller one, no matter if I place it on the cool or hot side. The funny thing is, HE DOESN'T fit there any more. It's real funny seeing him trying to 'hide' under it.

Ya, every time I move it, Ted seems to do the same thing. Regardless. Originally, I was going to take the small one out and give it to Bill (my new baby I just got at the White Plains show), but if I did that, Ted would probably get a bit ticked and jealous. Bill is quarantined right now, but still...you ,know....first impressions and all.
I'm just gonna have to get Bill new stuff rather than hand-me-downs for Ted.
(and yes, for those of you who have read, my new one is a girl, but Ted may also be a girl as well. So, hence.....Bill and Ted. If I get a male to breed with, then maybe I'll call him Susan or something....maybe Adventure?. yeah ive noticed the same behavior with my little RTB. i have a fairly large flower pot that i painstakingly cut a hole out of. she usually sits under it with her head sticking out. its incredibly cute. however, no matter where in her cage i put it she decides thats where she wants to hide. every so often she hides in this little tupperware cup i have on the hot side.

He prolly feels more secure in the smaller one as it is cramped and touching him more than the larger one.
A lot of times it is due to thermoregulation and they just aren't ready to go to te other side yet.

My RTB doesn't have a favorite hide spot, instead, he had two favorite places to perch. The first one was this stone sculpture that he likes to sit in the middle of. The second one was behind the rock where the heat was.
