Detached Snake Room help please
recently i have bought my first house, and now that i'm all moved in theres a ton of projects i just cant wait to get started on. the main thing i want to do is make my shed into my snake room. this is a nice 16' x 8' shed with a concrete slab floor, electric, lights, and a small window. the first thing i'm going to do is insulate the interior walls and finish them off with some sheet rock. after that i really want a sink out there.
the only water around is well water that my sprinkler system draws from. is there any way i can hook up a sink and filter to this and make in into a good, safe water supple for my boas? i live in central florida, would heat be a problem in the summer months??
any help or input would be greatly appreciated.

wow, that helps a ton!! so you diddnt have a problem with the ambient temps inside the new snake room even when the temps outside were around 100* . . . thats good to know. i was thinking about going with a more finished look inside, and i wanted to insulate the walls like the interior of a house and cover them with sheet rock. are there any benefits to use that "R Max" stuff you used over the way i had planned? also does my sink idea sound like something that can be done?
thanks for posting all those links!

The temps inside the building stay really stable during the summer. All I have is a small window unit AC with the thermostat set to 78 degrees and it does fine. During the winter I use a Lasco ceramic heater that has a built in thermostat so heating is no problem either.
As for wall coverings, I used the 1" insulation board because it isn't bothered by the high humidity. As opposed to sheetrock that is going to get mushy and mildew after a couple years of snake level humidity. I was going to cover it with FRP panels, but I am waiting to move so I am not going to put any more money into that building. But on the next one I will use the same insulatin board with FRP over it for sure. That way I will be able to hose down the room if I want to.
The sink idea sounds fine too. I would like to have one in my building, but there just isn't space. I thought about putting one outside.
Good luck with your project.
David

the more people i ask about the sink idea the more i'm comming to realize thats not going to work. i'm now leaning towards a water dispenser (like poland springs or zephyrhills) and use that for a fresh water supply out there. this weekend is being devoted to the girlfriend, so hopefully next week sometime i'll be getting started.
soooo many projects
