Glass door for cage?
ive seen a step by step how to from degi and they put on glass sliding doors on the front of a cage..it showd the slider pieces to attach for the glass to slide on...tracks...but no pics on how to exactly get the glass in there to fit and how large they need to be. Has anyone done this on there cages or is everyone just using plexi-glass? If using plexi-glass..does anyone know where i can order this cheap?

You can get door track from homedepot. It is made by stanley and comes in sixfoot lengths top and bottom and nails for fastenig included. In the directions it says to get the doors cut i belive 3/16 of an inch smaller then your rough opening so they will fit into the track when installed. As far as glass it really isnt a good idea seeing that it will break alot eaiser then plexi glass and you wouldnt want to hurt your snake. I ordered my plexi for my custom cages at causeway glass a local store that does custom glass and plexi work. Here is a link to where you can buy custom cut plexi online and they are decently priced . http://www.professionalplastics.com/...nbr=3&calc=cut

Isn't tempered glass stronger than regular glass?
I just hate plexi because it gets scratched up and looks awful after a while.

Yes toughened glass is a lot stronger than plain float glass, also because of the tension between the layers in toughened glass when it breaks its breaks into small none damaging pieces. The only down side is that when it breaks the whole pane will disintegrate, where as plain float can just crack.
Also like PierceFreak said you cut them slightly smaller than the rough opening, the top track is deeper than the bottom. So to load the door you push it all the way into the top track swing the bottom in and let it drop into the bottom.
Cheers
Nick

on my 6x2x2 boa enclosure i built i used tempered glass and its very tough i accidently smashed the large waterbowl into it once the ceramic type. didn't even leave a scratch. its been in use for about a year now and is still looking good. when u fit the glass first measure the gap without the track, if you speak to the guy at the glass centre he can work out what size it needs to be to allow for the glass to be dropped in and removed. saying that the glass i had was slightly to big, if this is the case just use a stanley knife to trim down the track until it fits. also its the deeper track at the top and the shallow bit at the bottom. in my personal opinion i would use tempered glass very tough and cheaper than plexi and doesn't scratch.

I use that stuff for my soft top windows in the jeep. It kind of works, it will take the "haze" out of it but as for scratches it doesn't do much for the larger deeper ones.
