horrible temperature control
ok, so my house is totally messed when it comes to heating and cooling
my enclosure is in my room, and during the day it stays around 85ish on the warm side, with a 75 watt infrared, i used a 150watt but it was too much,
now when i get home at night the heater kicks in and turns my room into a sauna. it becomes 89 on the cool side and 92 on the warm side,
now i know i can use a thermostat to control the heat lamps but is there any way to have something control fans???
also i have half cypress mulch and half newspaper(mainly cause i fed her on that side and didnt want it in the way) and i mist 4-5 times daily and it wont go above 45%
im lost for ideas
open to suggestions.

Right you say you know you can use a thermostat, are you using one? if not that's all you need to do is get one and use it and that should sort everything out, i have 24 tanks in my room and they're all 85-92 on hot sides but with stats so i don't have any problems as the stat regulates everything.

What is your "enclosure"? Please describe your cage....is it wood, plastic, or glass. If wood, is it melanine, plywood, or other. If it's an aquarium type, is it partially covered? Hint: A picture is worth a thousand words here!!!!

Can you shut off vents or block them so you don't get so much heat in your room? What is the temperature in your room?
now i know i can use a thermostat to control the heat lamps but is there any way to have something control fans???

Remember, as the heat increases in an enclosure, the relative humidity will drop. Concentrate on your heating issue first, then once it's controlled better (stabilized) you can address the humidity.

Let us know about the set up and maybe we can help better!

Could an administrator move this to the "Caging / Housing for reptiles / Husbandry Items"? I think it fits better there and I can find it! Thanks!

Right I have a 4ft wooden viv for my adult boa and that's heated with a 200W ceramic heater at one end which is guarded to prevent any burning issues and that's attached to a thermostat set to 80degree with the probe/sensor down the cool end, this allows the ceramic to wack out enough heat to bring the cool end to 80-82 and the warm end to 88-93. For my smaller boas they're in plastic tubs on heat mats or heat cable set to around 95 alowing for the fact the heat has to get through the plastic and substrate and the temperature on the hot ends are 88-90 and being a small area the cool end goes to about 80-82 and that's with the sensor from the stat taped onto the mat/cable outside the tank. If you want pictures i can do some for you.
