I am looking to spruce up my babies cage and need some ideas. I would like to use some fake leaves and stuff but I am stumped on how to connect them to the branch that I have in there now. I think they will do very nice to hold moisture for humidity when misting as well as provide hiding places in a more naturalistic environment for my little guy. If ANYONE has any experience or ideas on this, PLEASE RESPOND!

You might try a staple gun. Use long staples that won't pull out, so that he can't get the plants loose. If you don't have a staple gun, then I will leave this question for some one else answer. [img]images/forum/icons/icon_smile.gif[/img] [addsig]

Well you could get some suction cup type plants stick them on the sides of your cage or it might be a little work but drill holes throgh your log and use twist ties to hold the fack plants. Hope this might help.

My ARB is in a naturalistic enclosure. I have greenery attached to the back by staple gun. Its easy and secure.[addsig]

You can buy some really realistic looking silk plants at walmart for 3 bucks a piece. They all have a blunt stalk at the bottom that can easily be hot glued into a drilled hole in the log. I used a staple gun to staple vines overhead but I would only do this in places you are sure heavy snakes won't crawl up and over possibly tearing them down because when they pull them down they will likely pull out one side of the staple leaving a nasty little sharp end sticking out for them to crawl back over and cut themselves on.

I use the silk plants on my log and the suction cup stuff on the side of the tank. I think it's heavenly gardens or something that make it...
Julius is right if the snakes to heavy he'll pull it down...I have to you some green duct tape to tape the stuff plus the suction cup so he won't pull it down. With the silk plant I wrapped it around the 2 branches I've got in there and it works....I got pic's in one of these threads around here....I'll try to find it...[addsig]

If you are going to secure them to a log or something like that, I read that heavy duty fishing line works well. It's strong and waterproof. Just thread it through holes in the wood or add a little hot glue for extra support if needed.[addsig]

Try some green forest moss. It's pretty and it retains moisture rather well. It's cheap too, and not difficult to maintain.[addsig]

i actually went to a reptile show in SC recently and they had this kind of rubber-covered stuff (looked like rubber moss or vine or something) that was essentially bendable wire. well, now i look back and wish i'd gotten more. [img]modules/Forum/images/smiles/icon_razz.gif[/img] anyway, it's bendable and i basically wrapped it all over the place including around branches to secure it here and there and put fake walmart greenery vines all over the place. it's great stuff but i have no idea where to get it, it was just $4 for about a 6ft. section i'd say. fantastic stuff and it looks GREAT.

this is who i got it from, Twin Oaks: http://65.197.157.223/newto/pages/main.asp

aha! here are the vines!:

Try using aquarium silicone to attach the plastic plants to your logs,
just do it outside of the tank, and let it dry for at lease 5 days to a week.

good luck.

Oh, silicone is safe, as long as its COMPLETELY dry when you put it with your animal.
