Let me know what ya'll would do!! If it helps i live in Louisiana..

I just boat a digital thermometer at wallmart from 14$, it also reads humidity and temp outside and inside the tank... I keep a headpad on 24/7 on one side which keeps the temp at high 70's and then I use the round heat lamp though out the day, keeping the temp from 80-87. Turn the light on for 3-4hrs then turn it off 30mins and back off again. Works well for me.
Why spend 100$ on those thermostats of how ever much they are when u can spend under 15$ for the digital thermometer, assuming you have all the heating stuff already. Just my 5 cents

I use a single thermostat with the probe between the warm and the hot end, actually slightly more towards the hot end to control mine. As long as the tank is vented to pull the heat towards the cool end you should get a natural temperature gradient form.
Cheers

I also use just the one thermostat on each viv. 2 vivs have there own on/off stat and the other has a dimmer thermostat. Nexus hit on a great subject about the ventalation, as I'm having to add another vent to get the heat to circulate. Buck

I use one for the warm side and one for the cool. With larger enclosures and a fairly cool appartment, having two thermos to ensure proper heating across the board is essential in my situation. I suppose it really depends. If your house is at 75 degrees average, then I don't think you really need a second thermo. If your house gets much further below that, then it might be a good idea. I use the ranco thermostat for the warm side of my enclosures and then some cheaper models from bigappleherp for the cool side. Check out the links in my signature if you're interested.

Rancos are a good themrostat, but the boaphiles pricing is just plain robbery.. We carry the Ranco but I personally perfer the Johnson Controls, they do the same thign pretty much but the JC has a metal probe and responds to temp change faster, they also have an LED to let you know if the power is on or off. Check out this comparison I made up...
