3 new aboreal snake cages for $12.00 each

Well since I have 2.0 JCP's and 0.1 Irian Jaya coming tomorrow I figured that I should get some new cages setup. I am in the middle of getting my 12'X16' shop setup as a snake house so I didn't want to spend a ton on new cages so I opted for rubbermaid enclosures (Thank you Dupont!).
I don't usually use them since I am addicted to Vision cages, but I plan on building a bank of aboreal cages in the new building.
Anyhow, they are the 50qt with locking lids. I like the lids on these since they are pretty rigid and have an inner lip that helps to deter escapees. I added a couple rods for climbing and a nice big water bowl. I also have some 1/2 piece 6" pvc pipe hides that are going in later tonight after I cut them.
The snakes are all 04's so the size should be fine until I get the larger cages built in a month or so.

It took about 10 minutes per tub to finish it. ANd the substrate is aspen shavings.

I just got a PM asking how I heated these tubs. Well in my case the the tubs have no direct heat like heat tape or a basking light. The reason is that carpet pythons like a temp range of 75 to 85 degrees with a slight drop at night or approx. 5 degrees. My snake room stays at about 83-84 during the day and drops to around 76-78 at night so they should be fine without any kind of extra heating device.
If I were to heat those tubs I would use a peice of 4" heat tape run under all three and plugged into a thermostat or rheostat. A basking light is pretty much out of the question due to the softness of the plastic used for the rubbermaid containers.
Another heat option would be heat cable, but if not properly setup it could also cause a melting plastic problem. I think I am going to just stick with keeping the room at the right temps.

Did you put a heater and thermostat in the room for the whole thing?

Yes, I have a heater with a thermostat in the room. Sometimes during the summer I actually have to open the AC vents (which are normally closed) and cool it instead of heating it, but I always keep it in the low 80's during the day. WIth the new building I have a window AC that will keep it nice during the summer. I plan on getting one of these http://www.ajmadison.com/cgi-bin/ajm.../MA9000AH.html that will keep it cooled or heated automatically by just setting the thermostat to where you want it. Then I won't have to check the temps 5 times a day to make sure everything is working right.
My boa, burm and rack are all on thermostats or rheostats so they are fine anyway but I really like keeping the ambient at a nice 80 or so all the time.
